The Role

Under the general direction of the Director of Client Benefits, the Client Benefits Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all applications for public assistance, the submission of all required documentation and handling any necessary follow-up to ensure the Agency is able to bill for services rendered. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Assures accurate and timely completion of all client applications for NYC HRA public assistance including documentation follow-up.
  • Expedites submission of all documentation that is required from funding sources for all re-certifications.
  • Interviews Social Security recipients and all out-of-county clients on public assistance and completes necessary documentation.
  • Processes submission of documentation for SSD/SSI determinations.
  • Acts as liaison for all community-based income maintenance centers within boroughs and other counties, Social Security Administration and various external agencies.
  • Maintains HRA STARS tracking for Agency clients.
  • Assures timely closure of active community public assistance cases.
  • Maintains master listing of client interviews.
  • Handles ongoing facility related interaction with Directors/Case Managers regarding clients’ financial status.
  • Maintains a caseload and provides case management services for clients’ benefits.

Qualifications

Who You Will Be

  • Someone with a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least Two (2) years of experience in business management.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
  • Ability to work in a Team environment and independently.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic a socioeconomic background.
