The Role

 

Under general supervision, Security Counselors are responsible for providing security services that support the facility’s overall safety. The primary goal of this position is to provide monitoring and oversight at the facility that contributes towards a safe and clean environment for clients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Provides daily scheduled runs, observes activity and traffic in assigned areas, and notes observations in the communications log.
  • Supports clients with the check-in process, monitoring, assessing behavior, and overall well-being.
  • Utilizing the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise Systems (CARES) to complete Intake Check-in, Discharge Conditional Intake
  • Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to ensure all room doors are secured, clients' personal belongings are secured, preserve order and protect agency property.
  • Assists with morning wake-up of clients.
  • Conduct safety checks of clients staying in the facility due to illness and mobility issues.
  • Assists with scheduled evacuation/fire drills.
  • Escorts individuals to specified locations within the site.
  • Handles crisis interventions with clients as needed including diffusing physical altercations.
  • Participates in daily searches of client lockers.
  • Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure at the site.

Qualifications

Who You Will Be

  • Someone with a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma
  • One (1) year experience of Security Guard/Officer preferred
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, EMR, and the ability to learn new technologies and databases.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
