The Role


Under the general direction, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible under direction of a physician for providing general
clinical care including assessments, medication management and medication administration. The incumbent will work autonomously, collaborating with physicians, peers and others in the health care community. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Responsibilities


What You Will Do


  • Provide direct clinical care including assessments, medication management, and medication administration.
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations to clients.
  • Provide treatment planning recommendations.
  • Medication management.
  • Provide psychiatric emergency crisis management and consultation.
  • Participate in clinical training and staff development.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
  • Provide assistance with administrative work.
  • Assisting with other Outpatient programs as needed when shortage. Ex: RN Duties
  • Contact pharmacies regarding medication concerns and delivery requests.
  • Ensure to run the Prescription Monitoring Program for all clients.
  • Collaborate and assist clients when they have pharmacy restrictions.
  • Will be responsible for their DEA License to have Samaritan Daytop Village address to ensure narcotic medications can be delivered to the outpatient clinic.
  • Will be responsible to assist in collaboration of care for clients in inpatient setting.
  • Will be responsible to present high-risk clients during case conference meetings.
  • Ensure clients have an annual psychiatric & medical assessment, which includes scheduling the appointment accordingly.
  • Will be responsible for administering medications as needed

Qualifications


Who You Will Be


  • NYS RN and NP (Psychiatry and Mental Health) licensures.
  • Valid DEA registration.
  • BLS certification.
  • eMEDNY Provider.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited advanced Nurse Practitioner program in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
  • At least one-two years’ experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferably in addiction medicine or substance use and/or mental health treatment programs.
  • Knowledgeable about federal and state regulations governing medical/clinical treatment in substance use treatment programs.
  • eMedNY Provider or willingness to enroll upon hire for Permanent Staff.
  • Active NPI.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to patients with a variety of psycho social issues.
  • Ability to work with a medical and clinical interdisciplinary staff to ensure appropriate management of clients.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Team player and ability to work independently.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
