Training and Staff Development Specialist
Samaritan Daytop Village provides life-changing services in mental health, addiction recovery, housing, and more to help individuals and families across New York rebuild their lives. We serve over 33,000 clients annually at more than 60 locations throughout the five boroughs, as well as Suffolk, Rockland, Sullivan, Westchester, and Ulster Counties.
The Training and Staff Development Specialist manages the essential orientation and educational programs that prepare direct service staff for their roles within the agency. This position ensures that every new employee receives a consistent introduction to agency standards while maintaining ongoing compliance with all regulatory training mandates. By delivering clear, practical, and engaging instruction, the Training and Staff Development Specialist supports the professional growth of the frontline workforce and ensures that staff members have the practical skills necessary to provide high-quality service across all programs.
Facilitate weekly agency-wide orientation to ensure new hires are successfully integrated and informed of foundational policies
Conduct regular training sessions both in-person and virtually for direct service staff covering both mandated regulatory topics and agency-specific skills
Collaborate with program managers to identify departmental training needs and develop ad-hoc sessions to address specific skill gaps
Prepare and update training materials, manuals, and visual aids to ensure content remains current and easy to understand
Monitor and track training completion rates to ensure all staff remain in compliance with state and federal requirements
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of staff, utilizing a mix of in-person instruction and digital tools
Perform follow-up evaluations to determine if training objectives are being met and if staff feel supported in their roles
Stay informed of changes in industry regulations and best practices to incorporate relevant updates into existing curricula
Maintain accurate records of all training activities and certifications for auditing and licensing purposes
Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or a related field of study
Professional experience in training delivery, staff orientation, or group facilitation
Working knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to explain complex information clearly
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, experience using digital learning management platforms and the ability to learn other digital tools and software as needed
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on professional presentation
Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple training schedules simultaneously
Ability to travel to various agency sites to provide on-site support to direct service teams
Additional Information
This is a full-time exempt role with a salary of $66,300-$70,000. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, access to a retirement account with an employer to match, and tuition reimbursement.
This role is based out of our Briarwood, Queens headquarters but will be expected to travel throughout the 5 boroughs and occasionally to other regions in NYS as needed to facilitate training.
The regular schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
